MEMRECAM 1:1 scale model

The Guarniero model is used in this illustration.

The Fluid Science Laboratory (FSL) is a multi-user research facility on board the Columbus Laboratory (COF) dedicated to investigations in fluid physics under microgravity conditions. It can be operated in a fully automatic or semi-automatic mode on the station by the flight crew or remotely controlled from ground in the so-called tele-science mode.

One of the units of FSL is a Front Mounted Camera. This FMC's can be considered sub-units of the ODM. The Optical Diagnostics Module carries the equipment for visual and interfero-metric observation and diagnosis, illuminations, related control electronics and the attachment and functional interfaces for the Front Mounted Cameras for dedicated purposes (e.g. High Speed, High Resolution, Infrared).

The purpose of the FMC's is to provide recording means complementary to the integrated CCD cameras for observation of phenomena contained within the fluid cells of the EC in the CEM, with dedicated performance enhancements that can suit both standard and non-standard observations.

Currently the FSL test model is equipped with a NAC MEMRECAM. The scale model build by Atelier Guarniero will be used for training purposes. For this reason the highly detailed model is a full size model. It has been created using advanced design- and manufacturing techniques. The scale model has been made exactly matching the authentic designs, respecting all details.

Atelier Guarniero creates high quality space models, many of which are part of the ESA space program and of the International Space Station (ISS). Each scale model is made exactly matching the real spacecraft using information provided by the European space agency. At the moment we are working on a new line of rocket models beginning with the Soyuz launcher. We are planning to create a full line of rockets to complement our collection of satellites. Make sure to check back often to see pictures of every new satellite we produce.
